About Our Teachers

Kary Laplante
I first discovered my passion for teaching as a young girl at the kitchen table in my home. I grew up in a family of teachers. My grandmother, mother, father and several aunts and uncles raved about this noble profession.
I earned my Bachelor’s of Education in Early Childhood from the University of Victoria. I followed up with a year of graduate study in Counselling. During a visit to Edmonton in 1996 a local principal recruited me for a counselling/teaching position. After several years in Edmonton I moved to a similar position in Calgary.
As a social constructivist I craft a playful atmosphere where children explore together through guided discovery. Engaging, safe, and social environments foster creative thinking, social skills, and responsible behavior.
I embrace all the seasons and love spending time out doors with my husband and two young daughters. We go hiking, biking, camping, and swimming. Those few times I have to myself I enjoy reading novels, meditating, and trying new recipes.
